They are herbaceous perennials and evergreen varieties possess. They are also known as, water lilies because they predominate in the water gardens and have an excellent ability to survive in soils near ponds and lagoons.

Its name comes from the Greek word "kalos" meaning beautiful, are flowers that symbolize the finesse, elegance and purity and supposedly destined to be given away in a friendship or a declaration of love. The name "Creek" won the strict English society during the Victorian era.

Features and Applications

Originally there were six species of this plant but now there are plenty of hybrids in many colors, the most popular and beautiful beaches are white and yellow. Its leaves are quite large, soft shapes and dark green. For its part, the flowers are elegant, stylish, fairly large, tulip-shaped and beautiful colors.

Often used in bouquets or flower centers, also to highlight and give a touch of class to the "bouquets" or an air of sophistication. Its pure and simple lines have been widely used in bridal bouquets. During the Art Nouveau period became one of the favorite flowers and the imposition of minimalism have regained importance.

Basic care

This species is remarkable for its versatility, its only requirements are mild temperatures and a minimum of basic care. In fact flowers are ideal for decorating the garden because in addition to beautifying are easy to care.

As its name implies, usually water lilies in the garden with ponds located within or very near water because the wet ground.

The ideal temperature for growth of the bays ranges from approximately fifteen to twenty degrees. Suitable soils

These species can be multiplied by rhizome every two years depending on the vigor and growth of the specimen. As is common in the case of flowers, the best growing season is spring. If you choose to make the bay an aquatic plant, which plant it will have approximately about ten inches deep.

The most suitable land for development are fertile soils and humid with some drainage and also have their optimum conditions in soils that are slightly acidic and slightly salty.
